As each of our boys turned three, my husband would take them on the first of many hunting experiences. In the first couple of years he focused on teaching them to be still, what they were looking/listening for, and how to safely handle a single projectile weapon, a new BB gun.
The world pulls, tugs and tears at us every day. It feeds us various belief and value systems based on ever-changing standards. In the majority of cases, it’s not that the people who have imprinted your heart are horrible people, they handed you what had been handed to them.
Consciously or unconsciously, our choice of external packaging is our first hello. The world around us will make certain observations and assumptions based on the way we choose to package and present ourselves. It is the message we convey even if we never exchange a word. Admittedly, the “book cover” does not always match the story on the inside, nevertheless, it’s how we all first meet.
Certainly when he set out with his fortune in hand he never imagined it would end like it did. Who of us can predict such public humiliation? Even when our initial agenda is self-focused we justify it in some way.
Ever taken the time to get to know a stranger and discover things you would not have guessed would be part of their story?
The God of the Holy Bible is a Father first. He is the God who puts the emphasis of life on relationship. His love for His children can be seen even from the beginning of time. Since creation He has always been moving toward His children – especially when they are pulling away.
