Seasons

I do this every year. I can’t believe the leaves are starting to change. Where did summer go?

Seems I’m always finding fault with the weather. I was so frustrated with all the cold weather we had this past winter. Relentless, it encroached into our normal start of spring. I couldn’t stop complaining. It was so nice when spring finally decided to stay.

Pain

Do you ever wonder if God causes our difficult seasons in life? Or maybe you think He need not lend a hand, as there are plentiful opportunities for suffering in this broken world.

The Extra in Ordinary – Part 3

The final culmination of the historical recount of Joseph’s life is my most favorite part of all. When my heart needs encouragement, Joseph’s restoration is one of the best places to go. I need to be reminded that no matter what it looks like and no matter what it feels like, God is working on my behalf, and He has the power to transform my situation into something beautiful.

The Extra in Ordinary – Part 2

One of the many benefits we get from reading God’s Word is the example of everyday, regular people just like you and me. Three Things I’d Tell My Younger Self

As I get older I’ve often said, “Oh, to be 21 again.” But I’m also quick to add that I would not go back unless I can do so knowing what I now know. There are enough mistakes and displays of poor judgment that I do not wish to relive. The only reason worth going back would be to make amends, right my wrongs and do a better job the second time around.

Sex, Love, and the Sacred

Recently I heard an old song I knew all the words to when growing up. The main chorus was, “I just need your love tonight.”  The lead singer was quite clear about his intentions. He simply wanted her love for the night, nothing more. I wondered why he bothered to say love; it was obvious he only wanted sex. Was he confused or was he trying to confuse the young lady?

Miracles in the Darkness

A couple of weeks ago the world collectively held its breath. From all around the globe we were on the same team rooting for the same outcome. We wanted the coach and every single one of the boys on the Wild Boar youth soccer team to make it out of the cave alive.
