Podcast Episode – Alan Crookham, Missionaries and why they continually choose to risk pain and suffering to share the Gospel.

The brief time that I had with Missionary Alan Crookham discussing what missionaries are subjected to when trying to share the Gospel gave me a new appreciation of what it means to share in the sufferings of Christ.

We had a great conversation on things like facing death because Alan was almost stoned to death. You might be like me when you hear what he was going through his mind at this crucial moment of life and death as the circle of men were closing in and yelling.

I asked him his thoughts on what the Word means in Romans 1:20 when it states that we will be without excuse with regard to knowing who Christ is. I enjoyed turning a spotlight on that topic and hearing his perspective.

We primarily focused on international missionaries because Alan’s ministry has an international focus on pastors serving in extreme areas but aren’t we all missionaries to some degree in our own circle of influence? So when he answered my question about what he thought God’s heart for a missionary was, it applied to anyone with a mission minded heart.

As a missionary himself, Alan has to face things like the scorn of Witch Doctors and their attempts to torment Christians with their chanting/screaming through all hours of the night. He shared that Witch Doctors are real and so are their powers. He also shared of a time when a Witch Doctor brought his daughter to them because he could not cure her himself. Listen in to his response when the God of Christianity does what his power could not.

Some of the areas that Alan visits are places where kidnapping is common in order to raise money for militia and terrorist activity. Seeing family members torn apart, children being raised by their tormentors is hard on the heart. Very few families have enough money to redeem their loved ones or at the very least it takes them years to raise the required amount.

Such extreme and violent conditions and yet Alan shares of various super natural events saying he didn’t have enough time to tell of all the amazing things he had seen happen. As he shared a few examples I was encouraged to understand that God shows up in powerful, super natural ways despite the extreme conditions of pain and suffering.

I feel sure you will be as captivated by our conversation. So much so here is a few of the ways you can contact Alan and stay up to date with all he’s up to.
