Come to Me
Would you like some encouragement today? Do you need to know you have Someone who is not only in your corner but who makes a way for you, stands beside you, and is all around you? Would a reminder that there is Someone who is closer than your breath and who can steady your heart and mind be of comfort to you? Every time you feel stressed, confused, or less than happy, these are indicators letting you know that there is One who is lovingly drawing you to Him saying, “Come to Me.”
The Bible is incredibly powerful in itself, but because Christian music is rooted in Scripture, music is often the best way for me to remember Scripture and to apply the Word to my life. Worship music brings me into the presence of God where He overwhelms me with His extravagance. I get the beauty of experiencing joy and delight, two things the Kingdom of God is rooted in.
Music is a way for me to relax, be encouraged, and worship, so today I wanted to create an opportunity for you to purposefully sit in the presence of God. I chose a song from 2014 and, while it’s not new, it remains one of my all-time favorites because it reminds me of the intimacy with which God cares for us. It speaks of His tenderness towards us but especially His power and authority.
Listen to it anytime, but be intentional about finding the eight minutes to sit by yourself as often as you can and absorb the truths. The encouragement your heart will receive in those eight minutes of self-care and self-love will be refreshment for your weary mind and tattered heart. Besides, when we respond to His come to Me, He’s never failed to double anything I offer Him, including my time in worship.

I am the Lord your God,
I go before you now
I stand beside you
I’m all around you
And though you feel I’m far away
I’m closer than your breath
I am with you
More than you know
I am the Lord your peace
No evil will conquer you
Steady now your heart and mind
Come into my rest
And oh, let your faith arise
And lift up your weary head
I am with you
Wherever you go
Come to me, I’m all you need
Come to me, I’m everything
Come to me, I’m all you need
Come to me, I’m your everything
I am your anchor, in the wind and the waves
And I am your steadfast, so don’t be afraid
Though your heart and flesh may fail you
I’m your faithful strength
And I am with you
Wherever you go
Come to me, I’m all you need
Come to me, I’m your everything
Come to me, I’m all you need
Come to me, I’m your everything
Don’t look to the right or to the left, keep your eyes on me
You will not be shaken, you will not be moved, oh
I am the hand to hold, I am the truth, I am the way, hey
Just come to me, come to me cause I’m all that you need
When all the other hands have been withdrawn and you can see more backs of people than faces, God will not leave you. He offers His hand, His heart, His shoulder. He shines His truth into any situation, and when we know His truth in our circumstance, then we experience freedom.
There have been many times in life that God has eased my burden with the truth of who He is to me. His truths are always bound up in His love for me. The revelations He gives me, no matter my circumstance, allows me to lift my head under the weight of my mistakes.
Sweet woman, His love is beyond extravagant! Everything in existence, including evil (not that God is evil, but it’s the evidence that God has given us a choice, and it’s the basis with which we define good) is subject to God.
It’s all about Him, but, when we spend time with Him, we’ll realize He’s always making it about us.

Self-Reflection
These questions are in no way a substitute for healthcare professionals or any level of professional counseling. I’m an advocate for taking care of oneself mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. These questions reflect my heart, NOT my profession.
This questionnaire is an opportunity to journal your thoughts and feelings. It can serve as a launching pad on which to evaluate your heart condition as you understand it. My hope is that you will take the truths you discover about yourself and hold them up to the Light to evaluate them against who God says you are.
- Do you take the time to sit in the presence of God and engage with His goodness? If so, in what way? If not, what’s keeping you from experiencing His heart in this way?
- Do you need a hand to hold? Explain.
- Do you trust God to be your everything, or do you feel He needs your help in getting it right?
- Why do you think He says, “Do not look to the right or to the left; keep your eyes on Me”?
- In what way(s) do you think knowing God’s truth is beneficial?
- What is one thing you want God to be for you? Talk to God about your one thing.
Talk to God about your answers. Give Him praise, ask Him questions and then listen for His gentle response.
Take Action
Use God’s word to take control over the traumas in your life. Whenever you feel terrorized by your thoughts take them captive by replacing them with the truth of God’s promises in His word.
Here is a scripture for you to print, cut and carry with you and/or post in places where you will see it often. Ground yourself in God’s truths not Satan’s attacks. Encourage your heart and mind every time you are reminded of His great love for YOU!
Here is what God’s Word says about His unfailing, relentless, unending love for you:
“May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ …” 2 Thessalonians 3:5
When you read God’s love letter to you, say to yourself: It is through Jesus Christ that our hearts are pointed toward Father God, and it’s through Christ that we have direct access to the heart and love of God.
